I am a marketing director, art director, graphic designer, synesthete and occasional fine artist living and working in Allentown, PA.
I have been a lifelong creative and visual thinker. I studied drawing and painting in private and group lessons as a child, and attended classes at the Baum School of Art during high school. At Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, I studied graphic design and advertising, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2006. I've worked professionally as designer for the last 15 years.
The thing about making design decisions for 40 hours per week is that there is precious little creativity leftover for personal projects. The desire to paint or draw is often there, close to the surface, but the energy is not there to support it. On the rare occasions that it is, my work is usually flat and quick in nature.
I rely heavily on symbolism. I believe this is partially due to my design training, partially due to the way my brain chooses to think through feeling, and partially due to my upbringing surrounded by the iconography of the Russian Orthodox Church.
